Create sub-groups from sections and groups

Instructors can create sub-groups, based on Section or Group enrollment, within the Groups tool. Instructors can only apply one enrollment restriction to a sub-group.

  1. From the course navbar, click Groups.
  2. Under Manage Groups, click New Category and complete the category information.
  3. Under Restrict Enrollments To, select the relevant group or section. The Group Prefix field auto-fills based on the selected group or section, but you can edit it before saving.
    Note: Sub-groups can only be added once, users cannot create sub-groups of sub-groups.
  4. Click Save.
