What you need to set up learning paths

Learning paths need three things to function:

• Learning objectives - Learning objectives determine what Brightspace LeaP teaches. Brightspace LeaP uses the title and description of the learning objective to generate alignments between objectives and content/questions.
  • Learning objectives and content should be roughly the same granularity. Break down a learning objective if it takes many content items to fully cover it, and break down a content item if a single piece of content teaches many objectives. If a content item (for example, a PDF file) cannot be easily broken down, we recommend going back to the source file, breaking it down from there, and republishing.
  • Learning objectives should be specific. Abstract learning objectives (for example, "learn to think critically") shouldn't be taught by a handful of content items, and should be taught by engaging with a teacher. Brightspace LeaP's strength is in covering basic concepts, which allows teachers to spend time on higher-level concepts.
  • In an average course, there are usually 50 to 100 learning objectives.
• Content - Content items teach the learning objectives.
  • Brightspace LeaP needs sufficient content to work effectively. There should be multiple content items to teach each learning objective; if only one piece of content exists per learning objective, Brightspace LeaP cannot recommend alternatives based on the learner's needs.
  • Content can be based out of a course or a content repository, such as D2L Learning Repository.
• Questions - Questions assess the learner's mastery of the learning objectives.
  • It is recommended that you include 10 to 20 questions per learning objective.
