Collect evidence using the Brightspace Portfolio app in your classroom

Learners can use the Brightspace Portfolio app on a classroom device to collect images of their best work, and record an audio reflection about their work. Older students can also record reflections using the Brightspace Portfolio app. This evidence is saved directly to the cloud location set up for the classroom. Then learners and instructors can view the evidence from within Brightspace Learning Environment in the Brightspace Portfolio tool.

Collect evidence on behalf of learners

Instructors using the iOS Brightspace Portfolio App can log in to their own accounts using the My Device mode, and capture work on behalf of learners enrolled in any of their courses.

  1. Open the Brightspace Portfolio app, and tap My Device.
  2. You are prompted to connect to your Brightspace Learning Environment. Do one of the following:
    • If you have a Brightspace Learning Environment URL, enter it now.
    • If you do not have a URL, in the browser on any device, log in to the Brightspace Learning Environment.
  3. Click on your profile photo and click My Portfolio.
  4. Click Log Into the App.
  5. To set up the app, do one of the following:
    • If you are on your mobile device, tap on the web address to copy it to your clipboard and then paste it into the Brightspace Learning Environment app.
    • If you are on a different device, use the Brightspace Portfolio app to scan the QR code provided on the screen in the Log into the App instructions.

  6. Collect photo and video evidence with your device, and do any of the following:

    • Add or edit a title
    • Add an audio reflection
    • Add a text reflection
    • Pick categories to help you easily find this evidence later. For more information, see Assign categories to tag evidence.
  7. In the Collected Evidence area of the app, select evidence, and click the Upload icon.
  8. Select the course where the learner is enrolled, and then select their name from the classlist.
  9. Click the Upload icon, and the Evidence Sent confirmation screen displays.
