Using Passcards

Passcards are unique identifiers used by the Brightspace Portfolio app on the shared classroom device. There are two types of passcards: One type identifies the classroom, and the other type identifies each learner within the classroom. After Brightspace Portfolio is set up, instructors use a shared classroom device to unlock the door to their online classroom. To unlock their classroom on the device, instructors scan the code on their classroom passcard. After the instructor has scanned the classroom passcard, learners can use their own unique, secure identifier code to add new artifacts to their personal portfolios. Then, instructors and learners can use the Brightspace Portfolio tool in Brightspace Learning Environment to manage the information they have added to their portfolios. Passcards are not required to access the Brightspace Portfolio tool in Brightspace Learning Environment.

Learners can use the same passcard in all the classrooms that are using the Brightspace Portfolio tool.

Note: User QR codes contain login information (including first name, last name, and user authorization token). When instructors use QR codes in screenshots or images, the QR codes should be blurred out to protect user privacy.
