Retrieving learning objects to Content with their navigation intact

You can retrieve learning objects into Content and retain the relation of topics to each other and their place in modules. There are two primary ways to retrieve learning objects into your course offering:

Retrieve learning objects from Manage Content

  1. On My Home or a course home page, click Content on the navbar.
  2. On the Table of Contents page, click Add Learning Object.
  3. Perform a search or browse to find the learning object you want.
  4. Select the learning object from the LOR Results page and click Next.
  5. Click one of the following links to retrieve the object into Content with navigation intact:
    • Dynamic Link to Newest Version
    • Locked Link to This Version
    • Copy as Content
  6. Select a Parent Module from the drop-down list, or select None.
  7. If you create a dynamic link or locked link, you can select the Preview/view the content topic in a new window or tab check box. If you are copying the object as content and the destination folder listed is not the one you want, click Choose Destination to select a new folder.
  8. Click Create Link/Copy.

Retrieve learning objects from Manage Courses

  1. On My Home or a course home page, click Course Management in the Admin Tools widget, or from the Admin Tools menu on the minibar.
  2. Click Create a New Course Offering or Template.
  3. From the last step of creating a course offering, click Import from Learning Object Repository.
  4. Click Search to find the learning object you want.
  5. Click Retrieve from the learning object's context menu.
  6. Click one of the following links to retrieve the object into Content with navigation intact:
    • Dynamic Link to Newest Version
    • Locked Link to This Version
    • Copy as Content
  7. Select a parent module from the drop-down list, or select None.
  8. If you create a dynamic link or locked link, you can select the Preview/view the content topic in a new window or tab check box. If you are copying the object as content and the destination folder listed is not the one you want, click Choose Destination to select a new folder.
  9. Click Create Link/Copy.

Retrieve learning objects from Import / Export / Copy Course Components

  1. On My Home or a course homepage, click Edit Course on the navbar.
  2. On Course Administration, click Import / Export / Copy Components from the Site Resources area.
  3. Choose Import Components, and Learning Object Repository for the component source.
  4. Click Start.
  5. Click Search to find the learning object you want.
  6. Select the learning object from the LOR Results page and click Next.
  7. Click one of the following links to retrieve the object into Content with navigation intact:
    • Dynamic Link to Newest Version
    • Locked Link to This Version
    • Copy as Content
  8. Select a parent module from the drop-down list, or select None.
  9. If you create a dynamic link or locked link, you can select the Preview/view the content topic in a new window or tab check box. If you are copying the object as content and the destination folder listed is not the one you want, click Choose Destination to select a new folder.
  10. Click Create Link/Copy.

Retrieve learning objects from an LOR search page

  1. Click LOR on the navbar or click Search / Browse from the Learning Repository (LOR) widget if it is available.
  2. Click Search to find the learning object you want.
  3. Click Retrieve from the learning object's context menu.
  4. Click one of the following links to retrieve the object into Content with navigation intact:
    • Dynamic Link to Newest Version
    • Locked Link to This Version
    • Copy as Content
  5. Select a parent module from the drop-down list, or select None.
  6. If you create a dynamic link or locked link, you can select the Preview/view the content topic in a new window or tab check box. If you are copying the object as content and the destination folder listed is not the one you want, click Choose Destination to select a new folder.
  7. Click Create Link/Copy.
