Sharing and inserting CaptureCast presentations

Sharing CaptureCast presentations from Capture Portal or Capture Central

You can share CaptureCast presentations outside Capture Portal or Capture Central by copying and pasting their URL and embed codes. In Capture Portal or Capture Central, click on a live event in Manage Live Events or click on a published presentation in Manage Presentations. Expand the Sharing section and use the Embed or URL information to share the presentation.

Configuring CaptureCast presentations with Learning Environment

Important  If you are using Capture Software from your personal computer, your Capture Software should be configured with your Learning Environment credentials to generate a Capture username and password in the initial software setup (see Set up a connection between Capture Software and Learning Environment for more information). You must have this configuration set up to view and manage your CaptureCast presentations in Capture Central, and embed your CaptureCast presentations with HTML Editor's Insert Stuff option.

Ensure DOME variables d2l.Tools.Capture.PortalUrl and d2l.Tools.Capture.PortalId are pointing to your Capture Portal URL and Capture Portal ID, respectively. Also, check that your Capture Portal username is the value set for d2l.Tools.Capture.PortalAdminUsername, and your Capture Portal password is the value set for d2l.Tools.Capture.PortalAdminPassword.

Setting Capture Central and Capture Learning Environment permissions

By default, within Capture Central's Access Control, you are assigned the "Can View and Manage" permission for each live event and published presentation you create. You must have "Can View and Manage" access control in Capture Central to search and insert CaptureCast presentations into your Learning Environment course content.

Note  Learning Environment continues to support CaptureCast presentations created in Capture 7.4 or older that were embedded based on org unit tagging.

Set "Can View and Manage" access control for a live event or published presentation

  1. In Learning Environment, click Capture Central on your course navbar.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • In the Manage Content area's Live section, click Manage Live Events, then click on the event you want to set access control for.
    • In the Manage Content area's On-Demand section, click Manage Presentations, then click on the presentation you want to set access control for.
  3. In the Access Control area, select Can View and Manage in the drop-down list beside your listed username.
  4. Click Save Changes.
