Inserting audio and video files in the HTML Editor

You can insert media files into the HTML Editor using the Insert Stuff button. Depending upon your needs you can upload and insert a media file in the following ways:

Insert a media file

  1. Click the Insert Stuff button.
  2. Depending upon your needs, choose to upload/insert a media file from the following options:
    • Click the My Computer link to select a file to upload from your computer. Click the Choose File button to select a file to upload. Click the Choose Destination button to select a location in which to store the file. Click the Upload button to upload the file from your computer.
    • Click the Course Offering Files link to browse and select a file from within your current org unit file path. Select a directory link where the file is located. Select the type of file you want to select from the Files of Type: drop-down menu. Click the radio button beside the file you want to upload. Click the Next button. On the Media Properties screen preview the file. Click the Insert button to insert the file.
    • Click the Organization Files link to browse and select a file from within your current organization file path. Select a directory link where the file is located. Select the type of file you want to insert from the Files of Type: drop-down menu. Click the radio button beside the file you want to insert. Click the Next button. On the Media Properties screen preview the file. Click the Insert button to insert the file.
    • Click the Shared Files link to browse and select a file from within your shared files root path. Select a directory link where the file is located. Select the type of file you want to insert from the Files of Type: drop-down menu. Click the radio button beside the file you want to insert. Click the Next button. On the Media Properties screen preview the file. Click the Insert button to insert the file.
    • Click the Enter a URL link to enter or paste a URL corresponding to a media file located on the internet. Enter a URL in the URL: text box and click the Next button. On the Media Properties screen preview the link. Click the Insert button to insert the file.

      Note  Entering this URL will result in successfully embedded media only if the URL ends in a file with an extension that this function recognizes, or if the URL matches a specific pattern corresponding to websites for which there is specific support.

    • Click the Enter Embed Code link to enter or paste media embed code for insertion. In the Embed Code: text field enter the embed code for an object located on the internet. Click the Next button. On the Media Properties screen preview the file. Click the Insert button to insert the file.

      Note  When the Next button is clicked the Media Properties page simply displays the result of the code entered in the Embed Code: text field. There is no validation and there are no modifications made to the code.
