Managing survey questions

Note  The Question In Use page displays when you save changes to a shared question or information item. You can select the check box beside each quiz, self assessment, survey, and the Question Library in which you want to apply your current changes and click Save.

Edit a survey question or section

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to edit.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Click Edit from the context menu of the question or section you want to edit.
  4. Edit the survey question or section, click Save.

Edit mandatory status of a question

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to change mandatory statuses for.
  2. Click Edit Values in the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Select the Mandatory check box beside each question you want to enforce a response to.
    Notes
    • If you include mandatory questions in surveys, users can only submit their responses after they complete the mandatory questions.
    • You cannot use mandatory questions in conjunction with the Prevent Moving Backwards setting.
  4. Click Save.

Preview a survey question

The preview page allows you to view the appearance of an individual question, as well as the comments and hints you might include with the question. If the survey question appears in more than one place, the preview page also displays a list of places the question is in use (for example, Question Library, quizzes, surveys, self assessments).

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to preview.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Click Preview from the context menu of the question you want to preview.
  4. Preview the question, then click Done.

Reorder survey questions or sections

Change the order of questions displayed in a survey by reordering them in the survey question list.

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to reorder.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Click Order.
  4. Select the check box beside the survey question and/or section you want to reorder, and click the Up or Down arrows to move it through the list.
  5. Click Save.

Delete survey questions and sections

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to delete.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Select the check boxes beside the questions and sections you want to delete.
  4. Click Delete.

Publish survey questions to a learning object repository

  1. On the Manage Surveys page, click on the survey that contains questions you want to publish.
  2. Click Add/Edit Questions in the Layout/Questions tab.
  3. Select the check box beside the survey questions and sections you want to publish.
  4. Click Publish to LOR.
  5. Pick a Repository from the drop-down list or select if you want to Overwrite an existing object. You can have large files or packages Publish in the background, which allows you to leave the page as the system publishes. You can check the publishing job's status later.
  6. Choose options for whether the object will be visible and/or publicly available.
    • Only you and users with sufficient permission can view hidden learning objects and files.
    • You can change this option once the object/file is published to the LOR.
    • Publicly available objects are available to users without an ID and password to Learning Environment.
  7. Select the Creative Commons rights you want to associate with the learning object/file. Creative Commons licensing enables you to retain copyright on your work while allowing different degrees of reuse to other users. For more information go to creativecommons.org.
  8. If you want to remove questions or sections from the package, clear the check boxes beside the questions or sections you do not want to publish. Clearing a section clears all its associated questions. If you want to add, edit, or delete metadata, click the Edit Metadata icon beside a question or section. For information on editing metadata, see Adding/editing a resource's metadata.

    Note  Associating a creative commons license automatically populates the metadata rights fields with this information.

  9. Click Next.
  10. Enter metadata such as a Title, Description, and Keywords for your learning object.
  11. Click Publish.
