Creating a learning objective

  1. Click Competencies on the navbar.
  2. From the Competency List page, click New on the tool menu at the top of the page, and then select Learning Objective.
  3. On the New Learning Objective page, enter a Name for the learning objective.

    Tip  Use a name that clearly identifies the learning objective.

  4. Enter a Description of the learning objective.
  5. If you want, enter an Additional Identifier for the learning objective. This field typically refers to an academic standard related to your learning objective.
  6. If you want to restrict the types of activities that can be attached to this learning objective, select “Yes” beside Enforce evaluation method, then select the types of activities you want to allow.

    Note  You cannot change this setting once the learning objective is saved.

  7. Specify whether the learning objective is Ready for Evaluation by selecting “Yes” or “No.”

    Tip  Select “Yes” unless you have a good reason to do otherwise. Users cannot complete the learning objective if “No” is selected.

  8. Click Save or Save and New.

Alternative ways to create a learning objective

Method Advantages
From the Structure page of a Competency, select Add Child > New Learning Objective The new learning objective will automatically be attached to the competency
Copy an existing learning objective If the new learning objective’s properties or associated activities  is similar to an existing one, this will save time
